What do they teach you in India? Would you call the people's republic of China a democracy? No.
A republic is a state where supreme power is exercised by their representatives, which in most cases is elected by the people. Australia isn't a republic as our head of state is the queen.
Democracy is the government system where the people vote for the dudes who control their country, and usually involve free speech. China is a republic but not a democracy, Australia is a democracy but not a republic.
So in your opinion, why would you want a republic?
Btw, i have no idea what to vote for in our upcoming election. Any advice?
vote someone you know isnt racist.
We dont have donald trump. Hes the americans problem.
i didnt say him
You see, if he was an American he would be complaining about the upcoming election by this point. Seriously though, I want to move back to Korea in 8 months. .-.
I don't get it, both the descriptions seem the same. In both democracy and republic people elect their reresentatives, so aren't they similar? I looked at various sites.
We need atleast one baby to complete the family tree. Anyone?
On the list. The baby is cat mod
oh really? lol sorry.
The type of democracy the united States has is called a representative democracy. Republics are a better way of saying dictatorship nowadays, in some countries they hold elections that are completely planned and staged. A true republic would be the same as a democracy like you said Eva, but for there to really be a difference definition-wise then the democracy would have to be a direct democracy.
