Name: Xoden Title: The Eternal Shepherd Race: Undead Class: Support Appearance: A tall skeletal figure, covered in pale, rotting flesh, with long wispy white hair. He wears ragged, faded green robes, and carries an ancient shepherd's crook. Mana: No Lore: During his time among the living, in a long forgotten era, Xoden was a shepherd. A quiet but extraordinarily kind man, he wanted nothing more than to tend to his flock and help out in his village. In his undeath, he set out to roam Haradon, in search of knowledge to understand the condition that afflicted him and those like him. Over the long years of his travels, he learnt all he could about himself and his fellow undead, necromancy, and the nature of life itself. Eventually, his journey ended at the Necromancer's Academy, in the Swamp of Wyrms, where he spent innumerable years as a researcher. Unfortunately, however, Xoden was not immune to the fate that befalls all undead, with the passage of time. As the years continued to pass by, his mind was slowly beginning to decay. Realising what was happening to him, Xoden took his leave of the Academy, and secluded himself deep in the swamp, so as to avoid bringing harm to those around him, as his reason slipped further and further away from him. Now, the large majority of his undeath forgotten, he has reverted back to the ways of his bygone life as a shepherd. Rumour has it that he now wanders the deepest recesses of the swamp, guiding those who lose their way, as a shepherd guides his flock. Though, given that his mind continues to decay, even now, it's anyone's guess as to how long that benevolent disposition will remain. Skills: Q - Soul Tether: Health Cost: 30/60/90/120 Range: 10m Cooldown: 18/17/16/15 Effects: Xoden throws out a spectral rope. If it hits an enemy, he will tether them to the spot from which he threw the rope. A tethered enemy will not be able to move more than 15m away from the spot to which they are tethered. The rope will dissipate after 3/3.5/4/4.5 seconds. If the tethered enemy is not a hero or epic monster, the rope will absorb their soul when it dissipates, killing them instantly. (*Designer's note: Enemies who are tethered can move anywhere within the 15 meter radius of the tether, they just can't leave the area until the tether expires. This means that they do have a little bit of room to manoeuvre, while they try to wait out the duration.) W - Shepherd's Guidance: Health Cost: 50/100/150/200 Range: 20m Cooldown: 20/18/16/14 Effects: Xoden throws out his crook in the target direction. If it hits an ally, he will summon the crook back to him, pulling the ally along with it, and automatically applying Embrace for free. If the crook misses, the cooldown of Shepherd's Guidance is reduced by 50%. E - Embrace: Health Cost: 10/20/30/40% of current health Range: 10m Cooldown: 16/14/12/10 Effects: <Passive> Xoden diverts 5/10/15/20% of all damage received by all allied heroes within 15 meters to himself. <Active> Xoden sacrifices 10/20/30/40% of his current health, in order to shield the target allied hero for the same amount, for 5 seconds. When the shield expires, the ally is healed for 25/50/75/100% of the remaining shield health, and Xoden is healed for half that amount. R - Sacrifice: Health Cost: 0 Range: N/A Cooldown: 120/110/100 Effects: <Passive> Any time damage is diverted to Xoden, or he spends health to cast skills, the health he loses will be stored as Sacrificial Blood for 20 seconds. When Xoden's health reaches 0, he will enter a state of stasis for 3 seconds, during which he will be stunned and immune to damage, while he heals for 33/66/100% of all the Sacrificial Blood he currently has stored. For the next 20 seconds afterwards, Xoden will be unable to collect more Sacrificial Blood. <Active> Xoden channels for 3/4/5 seconds. During this time, 40/60/80% of all damage taken by all allied heroes within 15 meters will be diverted to Xoden. This effect can stack with the passive effect of Embrace. Purpose: Xoden is the first support/tank in HOC who can directly absorb damage on behalf of his teammates. With his focus on protecting and keeping his teammates safe, he can have a massive impact on the game, despite having no damage scaling in his kit. Though he may have to sacrifice his own health to help others, his ult's passive allows him to be rewarded for doing so, and its active can allow him to singlehandedly decide teamfights, by absorbing all of his enemies' damage for his team, so long as he's not interrupted. Furthermore, the fact that all of his abilities can be used both to engage or disengage grants him a great deal of versatility.
