    Hello everyone.

Now that items were modified my previous Guervus' guide is basically useless because any fighter or mage can defeat Molten Lord easily 1v1, even if getting so bulky (A Hades armor is not enough to counter fighters). Plus, old "Dull Vine Shield" was very useful because it gave Guervus Attack Speed, Magical Defense and last: Healing Active Skill; the new one doesn't give Heal.

So, after trying several ways, I found out that the best way to plat Guervus with the current items and tiers is to play him as Full Carry Mage. Even that, SSOD is still useful for this fire mage. Here we go.

    Introduction
Molten Lord, one of the cheapest heroes and also one that gets Free most of the times. Even if he doesn't have any CC skill, he still can be used as a mage who deals tons of AOE damage with his LAVA SNAKE and SPACE WRAP skills (sadly, these are the only 2 toys he deals damage on enemies).

    PROS and CONS

    PROS:

-He is the only mage it is worth to invest on HP because of his FIRE LORD skill, also, he is the only one who takes advantage of Stirring Soul of The Dragons.
-Popping LAVA SNAKE skill is so useful to deal huge damage on several enemies.
-Has good toys to run away from death or chase enemies: LAVA BURST and SPACE WRAP. These two skills makes him also near to impossible to be caught (if Guervus is being chased).
-Guervus' Ultimate is "instant-triggered" (No slow animations before triggering Ult, just tap ultimate button and it is fast triggered).
-LAVA SNAKE is a single target skill which hits several enemies. So being a "single target" skill makes worth the use of Arrogance Cloak or leech talents/items when triggering this skill.
-LAVA BURST deals damage on Invisible Enemies (usually if an enemy gets invisible is because he is very low HP, so if you predict where enemy goes, you can pursuit him with this skill).

    CONS:
    -Very weak early/mid game.
-LAVA BURST skill can't be cancelled after popped, so for example if you want to pop LAVA SNAKE on the enemy hero during a 1v1 fight and you tap LAVA BURST by mistake, you are surely dead.
-LAVA BURST skill is useless to deal damage, even minions and creeps laugh on the damage they take from it.
-One of his most powerful skills, LAVA SNAKE has a slow-motion trigger, this can be deadly on a 1v1 fight (for example, if your skills are cooling down and you have very few HP remaining, your next skill to be available will be ready in 2 seconds...Great! The skill is ready, now the enemy will die by taking damage from your SNAKE, you pop it....You die before releasing the snake....:bigtears:).

    Skills and their usage

    LAVA SNAKE:

Guervus summons a scorching serpent, which advances forward, burning everything in its path.

    Damage: 50/80/110/140 + [65% Magical Attack]

    Additional Effect: Bounces 2/3/4/5 times

Comment: This is a SINGLE target Skill that becomes AoE when two or more enemy targets are close each other. This skill should be used durig Team Battles, or if the enemy you want to deal dmg to is near minions, neutral creatures or other heroes. This skill is Arcane's nightmare if his mirrors are on the battle field; since the snake bounces anytime it touches an enemy, minion, etc. Always pop this skill to deal the very first damage on a Hero, to trigger the Arrogance Cloak debuff effect.

    LAVA BURST:

Guervus combusts, splashing nearby enemies with burning lava.

Damage: 60+ [25% Magical Attack] Magical Damage every second for 4 seconds to all enemies within 4 meters.

Additional Effect: Increases Guervus' movement speed by 40%.

Comment: It won't be as useful dealing damage on enemies and must be NEVER be used to deal damage on an enemy that has 50% or more HP. This skill will be used for escaping (due to the 40% boost on speed) or chasing a low health hero. For LV1 matches, I max it last since the 40% of speed boost keeps the same in all its levels and speed boost is the only thing this skills is used for in this build.

The movement speed boost by popping this skill is amazing. Combine this skill with Space Wrap to chase enemies or escape (if you are low health).

    FiRE LORD:

Effect (Passive): Increases Magical Attack by Max HP x 0.01/0.02/0.03/0.04.

Comment: Wow, this skill is awesome, well.....not that awesome, hehehe. But its passive effect + "Stirring Soul Of The Dragons" buffs Guervus' magical attack and because of this skill, Molten Lord is the only mage who takes advantage of this item; well, all you have to do if you equip that item is just ad as more as you can max HP since it boosts your power 1% of your total amount of HP (Example, if you have 4000 of HP, that item will add 40 of Phy/Mag attack to your hero! combined with MAX passive effect: the same 4000 of HP gives you 200 of Magical Attack!! Oh my Lord!)

    SPACE WARP:

Damage: 90/170/250 + [80% Magical Attack] Damage to all enemies within 5 meters.

    Range: 10 meters.

Comment: This is a good Ultimate, but not as "wow!" as other Hero's. The advantage of this Skill is that you can damage all enemies that are close each other (team fights) and can be also used as an instant escape from death. Use this in combo with LAVA SNAKE to deal tons of dmg on crowds of heroes (not if you are alone but in a team fight), also can be used to finish off a low health runner enemy.

Use this as utility combo along with LAVA BURST to escape from danger (Drag with finger the distance and pop ultimate, then just activate LAVA BURST and run away).

Also note than from update 13, the Cool Down Reduction for this skill has been buffed to 24/18/12 from 75/60/45. Having the MAX -45% CDR, Guervus can spam this skill each 7.2 seconds. Even without the MAX -45% CDR, Guervus can take advantage of his tankyness (this guide is for making him so tanky) to endure hits while hitting the attacker(s) with normal attacks (this guide makes Guervus a DPS dealer, similar to fighters) waiting for his ult to be ready, so he can clean up the enemy(ies).

    Talents:

    MAGE (27)

[IMG] 5 (5% CDR) or [IMG] 5 (10 magical attack)
[IMG] 5 (MP reduction [0.7% per level]) or [IMG] 5 (increases MP [7.5 per level])
[IMG] 1 (Reduces MP Cost 10%)
[IMG] 5 (Ignores 11 magical defense)
[IMG] 3 (Increases Magical Attack [0.9 per level])
[IMG] 3 (Boost Mag Att 15% when having 40% or less HP)
[IMG] 3 (Useless skill, but needed to unlock next useful root)
[IMG] 1 (10% chance of dealing 150% extra damage)
[IMG] 1 (Additional 10% damage on Stunned/Slowed targets)

    GUARDIAN (13)

    [IMG] 5 (60 HP)
[IMG] 2 (Mag Def [0.7 per level])
[IMG] 3 (Phy Def [1 per level])
[IMG] 3 (Increases HP [9 per level])

    Why these talents?:
The 27 mage talents increase Guervus' power at the Mage side. The rest of talens are needed to maximize his HP. Remember, Guervus is the only mage who can wear HP without missing power because HP raises his magical attack.

    Itemization:

[IMG]Stirring Soul of the Dragon's: This item is near to a must on Guervus because it combos very well with this mage's passive skill. At the end Molten Lord packs 5% of his HP to his Magical Attack, which is worth.

[IMG]Arrogance Cloak: Since Guervus now depends on his skills, the very first skill to be casted is LAVA SNAKE, which is a "single-target" one. This skill triggers the full debuff effect on any target.

[IMG]Boneflame Wand: From last previous updates, this item has become one of the most powerful Magic Based hero (except for the ones that lack MP such as Jombra). 125 Magical Attack+its passive+MP talents, makes this item so worth on adding huge magical attack power.

[IMG]Searing Orb: This is always a must on Guervus, 30% magical defense burn is very useful all the time.

[IMG]Staff of Rectitude: This item is mostly to fill out Guervus' magical power (because of its 110 magical attack). If you dislike this item, you may consider equipping [IMG] as another option.

[IMG]Chain Boots: This item is very useful to add speed. Its snare decreasing effect helps you when you during a chase (for example, you are chasing ant, he will put ants to slow you down, the snare decrease effect helps you get close him faster). Its +200HP is also very good to combo FIRE LORD's passive. If you dislike this item maybe you want to consider [IMG] or [IMG] to increase speed.

    Tablets:

    Desecration Tablet
Ascension Requirement: 8 Order, 8 Chaos
Ascension Effect: Each time you slay an enemy by yourself, your Max HP will be permanently increased by 5 points, to a Max HP of 360.

Comment: This tablet is used to improve Guervus' HP; the most HP, the more FIRE LORD skill increases Guervus' Magical Attack.

    Elder Tablet
Ascension Requirement: 12 Order, 4 Chaos
Ascension Effect: Increases your Physical Defense by 12% of Magical Attack.

Comment: A must for mages, this allows to survive fighter attacks.

    Bloodfreeze Tablet
Ascension Requirement: 5 Order, 11 Chaos
Ascension Effect: When a hero's HP is below 10%, they will only receive 10% damage for 2 seconds. This effect will only be triggered once every five minutes..

Comment: A like this tablet on Guervus, because once he survives because of this tablet's effect, he has a lot of chances to escape alive from the deadly situation by running away with his high speed: LAVA BURST+SPACE WRAP+BOOTS/Lollipop.

If you dislike BLOODFREEZE, you can equip the following tablet, which is very good to use on any mage:

    Inscriptions:

    CHAOS:
    Spellbreaking Inscription
    Increases Pierce through Magical Defense by (B) 0.71 / (S) 1.06 / (G) 1.42

    ORDER:
    Barbarism Inscription
    Increases Max HP by (B) 7 / (S) 10 / (G) 13

    Tips:

    A) The playstyle has changed: In my old guide, user was very tanky and was able to take almost any hero 1v1 by only auto-attaccking. But now, Guervus' playstyle is "hit & run". So Guervus depends 70% of his team, he can't take targets by its own unless squishy fighters/mages that were surprised by your lava snake+space wrap combo. Most of the times, Guervus shines during team battles, specially when there is a tank in your team (Jombraa is very useful), if there is a couple of enemies (close each other) attacking your allies, you came from the shadows and surprise them with a powerful lava snake and then clear the path with Space Wrap.

    B) If you are chasing a low HP enemy and he enters in a fog, hold and drag ULT icon and release finger on that fog (most of the times, the enemies hide on a fog and get back to their base). Enemy will die.

    C) If an enemy is low health and runs away, just pop your LAVA BURST and chase him, don't doubt and get close him while spinning. This must be the only time LAVA BURST is used to deal damage.

    D) Being a coward sometimes has beneficts: If you are very low health (70 HP for instance), don't stay fighting (if you know that you will die anyway), Guervus has very high chances to run away safetly: If you are being attackeed while being low health, hold and drag ULT icon and release far from the battle, then just use LAVA BURST and hide away from the enemies. You will be yelled: "Run Nub" but, running away is better than feeding the enemy.

    Final words:

Thats it for now. If you guys have more info that can be useful to this guide, don't hesitate and post it.

    My Old Guide:

Hello everyone; this is my very 1st guide in the forum. It will look very awkward to you and for good reason (you will see in talents section and itemization). After this maybe you will call me noob but...if you want to play a mage with a different set from all other mages just for fun, you can try the following tanky build for Guervus.

NOTE: Since this is my 1st post of this kind, please don't hesitate to comment to improve this build, or maybe to correct some mistakes you noticed while reading.

    Introduction

No more words to say, as you have read from other tutorials: Molten Lord is underrated most of the time, it lacks power in most of his skills (except for his 1st skill that deals huge dmg on team battles). PROS and CONS

    PROS:

-Very bulky and unstoppable late game [Following this guide's build].
-Popping LAVA SNAKE skill is so useful to deal damage on several enemies.
-Has good toys to run away from death or chase enemies: LAVA BURST and SPACE WRAP.
-One of the best passives in the Game (FIRE LORD) which makes Guervus take Tank/Bruiser role without dropping raw power (most of the heroes who are tanky built looses raw power to gain tankyness).

    CONS:
    -Very weak early/mid game.
-Guervus needs to have fully equipped to shine in game, so most time in the match he is practically useless.

Skills and their usage when running this build

    LAVA SNAKE:

Guervus summons a scorching serpent, which advances forward, burning everything in its path.

    Damage: 50/80/110/140 + [65% Magical Attack]

    Additional Effect: Bounces 2/3/4/5 times

Comment: This AoE skill should be used only (for this build) in Team Battles, or if the enemy you want to deal dmg to is near minions, neutral creatures or other heroes. This skill is Arcane's nightmare if his mirrors are on the battle field; since the snake bounces anytime it touches an enemy, minion, etc. For this guide, this skill won't be as important as it is in other builds, you will see why during the reading of this build, so remember (if you follow this guide), just use it to support team, don't user it in a 1v1 without any other targetable creature around. I max this skill secondly in LV1 matches contrary at most of Guervus users whose max it 1st

    LAVA BURST:

Guervus combusts, splashing nearby enemies with burning lava.

Damage: 60+ [25% Magical Attack] Magical Damage every second for 4 seconds to all enemies within 4 meters.

Additional Effect: Increases Guervus' movement speed by 20%.

Comment: I've seen in other tutorials that this skills is used as combo to deal dmg in Team Battles (combined with ult, since both skills do dmg to all enemies around) and its utility is correct...but same as told for previous skill, it won't be as useful as it is on other builds. For this guide, this skill will be used for escaping (due to the 20% boost on speed) or chasing a low health hero. For LV1 matches, I max it last since the 20% of speed boost keeps the same in all its levels and speed boost is the only thing this skills is used for in this build.

    FiRE LORD:

Effect (Passive): Increases Magical Attack by Max HP x 0.01/0.02/0.03/0.04.

Comment: Wow, this skill is awesome, well.....not that awesome, hehehe. But its passive effect is the purpose of this weird guide. If you often use Tanks/Bruisers you will be agree that "Stirring Soul Of The Dragons" is one of the best items to use on them if you want to increase their Physical/magical power; well, all you have to do if you equip that item is just ad as more as you can max HP since it boosts your power 2% of your total amount of HP (Example, if you have 4000 of HP, that item will add 80 of Phy/Mag attack to your hero!)...This skills works similar, but x2!!, which means this passive skill adds 2 Stirring Sould of The Dragons' passive, so the same 4000 of HP gives you 160 of Magical Attack!! Oh my Lord!

The following sections will be focused on raising as much as possible Guervus' HP to take advange of the full potential of this skill.

    Itemization:

I have explained above that the meaning of this build is to take advantage of the full potential of FIRE LORD's passive (Increase of Mag Att for 4% of total HP).

There is something that is not mentioned in text above: This guide is also meant to increase Attack Speed. Since we need to invest as much as possible on HP, we miss the chance to get good Magical Attack booster items such as Boneflame Wand, Arrogance Cloak among others; so focusing on full HP invest we automatically drop such items and so the CD/Mana/Leech/etc magical boosters (including talents, inscriptions, etc)....You may ask "So why then I invest full HP?", fortunately after release of Kuzdor/Equellia, mages can invest also in Attack Speed ("Watchers Whisper" is now full attack speed item and its speed was also buffed: 80% of attack speed), this item could be used on Guervus along with other features to turn him on a DPS tanky attacker.

Now, lets check itemization for 2 game modesa: LVL1 and LVL15/10K matches.

1.- For LVL1 matches items build (1000 gold at the beginning):

-Buy 1 "Squire's Wisdom" and 1 "Acolyte Staff".

-Upgrade one Acolyte Staff to Leviathan's Cloak.
-Upgrade the other Acolyte Staff to Necromancer's Passion.
-Upgrade Leviathan's Cloak+Necromancer's Passion to "Arrogance Cloak".
    -Buy "Wings of Paradise".
    -Buy "Fury Blades".
-Upgrade Wings of Paradise+Fury Blades to "Watcher's Whisper".
-Buy "Cloak of the Dragon's Blood".
    -Buy "Blood Punch".
-Upgrade "Blood Punch" to "Amulet of Rejuvenation".
-Upgrade Cloak of the dragon's and Amulet of Rejuvenation to "Stirring Soul of the Dragons".
-Buy another "Cloak of the dragon's Blood".
    -Buy "Raven Mail"
-Upgrade "Raven Mail" to "Minotaur's Mask".
-Upgrade Minotaur's Mask and Cloak of the dragon's Blood to "Hades Armor".
    -Buy another "Wings of Paradise".
-Sell "Squire's Wisdom" and buy "Calming Cloak".
-Upgrade "Calming Cloak" to "Sacred Spirit".
-Upgrade "Sacret Spirit"+"Wings of Paradise" to "Dull Vine Shield"
    -Buy "Enchanter's Ring".
-Upgrade "Enchanter's Ring" to "Searing Orb".

2.- For 10,000 gold matches items build:

Use the initial 10,000 gold to buy the following items:
-Stirring Soul of the Dragons (4,200)
    -Watcher's Whisper (2,900)
    -Leviathan's Cloak (1,300)
    -Acolyte Staff (500)
-Cloak of the Dragon's Blood (1,100)

    From now on:
-Upgrade Leviathan's Cloak to "Arrogance Cloak" (1,020)
-Upgrade Cloak of the Dragon's Blood to "Hades Armor" (3,100)
    -Build "Dull Vine Shield".
    -Build "Searing Orb"

Final (MAIN) Build on any match:

    -[IMG]Watcher Whisper
    -[IMG]Arrogance Cloak
    -[IMG]Searing Orb
    -[IMG]Hades Armor
    -[IMG]Stirring Soul of the Dragon's
    -[IMG]Dull Vine Shield/[IMG]Santly Silver Staff***/[IMG]Zealot's Horn*/[IMG]Spider Queen's Embrace**

*(Check NOTE below for this item)
**(Check NOTE 2 below for this item)
***(Check NOTE 3 below for this item)

    "WHY THOSE ITEMS?"

    Answer:

-"Watcher Whisper" and "Dull Vine Shield" fill the purpose of this building: DPS mage, those will be the only speed attack items we will have (80% Watcher's and 40% Dull Vine).

-"Dull Vine Shield" will protect us from Magical Attacks, so we can face any mage. In update 11, all mages lack of HP since they prefer POWER investment, since we are bulky, 60 of Magical Defense provided from this defensive item will give us a defense about 115. We have advantage here because we have a lot of HP and we are not dependent on Skills (our normal attacks are our main source of dmg dealing), the other mages not, they are rely on Skills so they have no any chance against us. Also notice that this item gives a few amount of HP: 200.

IMPORTANT: This item has also an active skill which heals you 15% of your MAX HP, so this is great for Guervus. In a 1v1 fight enemy will see how your HP has been dropped and will continue attacking you, but then you pop DVS active skill and surprise! you finish him off. Guervus benefits with this skill because he has a lot of HP (following this guide), plus FAST HEAL talents will increase the healing effect drastically!

-"Searing Orb" choice is pretty obvious, its passive burns 30% of target's Mag Def and adds a huge amount of Mag Att (110).

-"Hades Armor" and "Stirring Sould of the Dragons" serve the purpose of adding huge amount of HP, besides Hades adds a great passive (reflects 40% dmg dealt to us to our physical attackers) and amazing physical defense (70).

-"Arrogance Cloak"..."Say hello to my little friend, muahahahaha" .....I've learned something new one week ago about this item (yeah, yeah, I'm noob, meh...), and that is amazing: Arrogance Cloak's full effect is triggered by only hitting a single target with normal attacks...How is that possible? Well, all you have to do is equip a Watcher Whisper to a mage, once the mage slows down another hero, the Arrogance's passive is triggered, so, the burst dmg you deal is bigger. Guervus is really the only hero who can eat this cake, he is not sharing it with another mages such as Mystic, Arcane, etc. Guervus is the best mage to take advantage of this.

-And the best part: "Stirring Soul of the Dragons" combos well with Guervus' passive skill. Now this hero will have a passive of 0.06 (6%) instead of 0.04 (4%). Remember the previous mentioned 4000 of HP? with 0.04 Guervus gets 160 points of MagAttack, with +2% (from Stirring Soul of the Dragons), we will get 240 points on passive. Wow!

NOTE (About Zealot's Horn): "Zealot's Horn" adds a huge amount of HP (500) which is amazing and passive Attack Speed (20%), use it only if you are playing against an Evistix who has equipped: Longbow of the Shadows, Jade Axe, Divinity Sword, Akhan Cutlass, King Killer. I've noticed that itemization on Evistix destroys Guervus in a blow if he activates his ultimate, so you will need more defense to survive.

NOTE 2 (About Spider Queen's Embrace): Sometimes the opponent team will be full fighter, so you will only need Physical Defense, the most used fighters are Aria and Draeznor, a headache for any hero. In this situation you can wear: Watcher's Whisper, Searing Orb, Stirring Soul of the Dragons, Hades Armor, Zealot's Horn and Spider Queen's Embrace. Those build make you resist the enemy full physical team, specially drops attack speed on enemies such as Draeznor and Evistix.

NOTE 3 (About Saintly Silver Staff): "Santly Silver Staff", this item has been always a good option to wear on Guervus build since it gives attack speed and, Attack Speed is a top feature to build on him along with HP. Now, if you notice this item is added as an option over "Dull Vine Shield". Why? Well, DVS helps you healing you with its active skill, doesn't it? SSS will do the same, just attack a guy with your normal attacks or just drop your snake over a couple of enemies (very good option if you have chosen Arrogance Cloak over Saithion Lollipop), activate asap SSS's active and heal yourself. Also note that this item is very recommended if you have no troubles with the opponent mages, it also gives you +10 attack speed more than Dull Vine Shield gives.

Remember: User Saintly Silver Staff over Dull Vine Shield if their mages are not a problem for you....Or if you have a reckless gameplay style. ;D

OPTIONAL ITEMS (item build mentioned above is the best Guervus can wear):

IMPORTANT: Before checking the following list of "other options", please consider and keep in mind that the following 3 items are a must on your build. They must not be dropped since Guervus depends a lot from them (please also note that the main build shown above is the best Guervus can wear, but you maybe wanna try funnier ways to play him):

    -[IMG]Watcher Whisper
    -[IMG]Stirring Soul of the Dragon's
    -[IMG]Searing Orb
    -[IMG]Arrogance Cloak

Now, lets check the optional items you can fill your build with:

    [IMG]Amulet of the Second Chances.
    -Price: 2,000
    -8% Critical Rate
    -320 MP
    -20% Attack Speed.
-ACTIVE SKILL (Unique): Your Hero gains 100 + (Hero's Level x 20) HP and Max HP for 8 seconds. When the effect ends, you will lose the same amount of HP and that you gained when using this item, but if you do not have enough HP to lose, you will not die but will only leave 1 HP. Cooldown: 1.5 minutes.

Comment: This underrated item fits Guervus needs at early/mid game (for LVL1 matches), it is cheap and gives him attack speed (20%), an amazing Crit Rate (8%) and its active just combos well with Guervus skills since it adds MAX HP for 8 seconds (FIRE LORD passive skill benefits from it), if this item is used and kept until lvl15, Guervus heals and adds 400 of HP when skill is activated. The best of this item is the critical rate it adds, at lvl15 Guervus will have 25.64% critical rate, most of the Physical Carries packs about 30% (with one Akhan Cutlass+Talents).

    [IMG]Essence Stealer.
    -Price: 3,300
    -30 Physical Attack
    -550 HP
    -15% CDR
-PASSIVE SKILL (Unique): Skill Damage will Reduce healing and regeneration effects by 50% for 6 sec if the target's health is less then 40%.

Comment: This item has now changed in update 13, so this is a good option (better than before) since it has now 15% CDR which stacks with the 10% of Stirring Soul of the Dragons. If you want max CDR (-45%) you can get Stirring+Nymph's+Essence (without having any investment on CDR talets/tablets/Inscriptions). This makes Guervus's ultimate be very spamming (as long as he has enough MP). Guervus takes also advantage of his Passive Skill. In an update where Helmm is the monster healer, Guervus skills (Lava Snake and Ult) can cut 50% the healing effect on Helmm and his teammates if they are have HP below 40%.

    [IMG]Nymph's Relic.
    -Price: 3,700
    -400 HP
    -400 MP
    -4 MP Regeneration
    -20% Skill CD
PASSIVE SKILL (Unique): Increases the healing effect of all ally heroes within 10 meters by 8%. +5% Movement Speed to yourself.

Comment: This item is good because it offers a great amount of HP; also provides +5% passive buff on movement speed, which is great. This item can be used along with Essence Stealer and Saithion Lollipop/Chain Boots to have an optimized movement speed and the good news about is that all of those items add the most important for Guervus: HP.

Its -20% CD reduction is added to the -10% you already have from Stirring Soul of the Dragons, this helps a little if you want to spam skills more often.

    [IMG]Helm of Divine Favor.
    -Price: 3,800
    -60 Magical Attack
    -350 HP
    -300 MP
ACTIVE SKILL (Unique): You became invulnerable for 3 seconds. During the effect, your character cannot move, attack or use skills.
    Cooldown Time: 80 seconds.

Comment: The "TROLL" item, some players use its active very well activating it at the right moments. It can save caster's life or just win an 1v1 against a powerful (for example Arcane) enemy just by popping it at the moment that hero uses its ULT or other deadly skill. It adds a few amount of Magical Attack, and decent HP (350).

    [IMG]Staff of Rectitude
    -Price: 3,845
    -110 Magical Attack
    -210 MP
    -10% Leech HP

Comment: Like I said at the PROS section, Guervus' Snake skill makes worth the use of Staff of Rectitude, if you are almost died and you cast Lava Snake over a group of heroes or minions, you will heal yourself a lot (nice combo: Rage Tablet+Fast Healing Talents+Staff of Rectitude).

    Talents:

This will become weirder....hahahaha....Now, I think you will say "What a noob!!". Well...with Itemization it was specified that all Guervus needs on this build is 1.- HP and 2.- Attack Speed. So talents will focus on those features. So, here we go:

    GUARDIAN (19):

[IMG] Strong: 5 (40 of HP)

[IMG] Defense: 2 (adds Mag Def 0.5 per lvl)

[IMG] Toughness: 3 (adds Phy Def 0.7 per lvl)

[IMG] Resilient: 3 (adds 9 of HP per lvl)

[IMG] Fast Healer: 3 (Increase 35% on Healing Effects)

[IMG] Last Stand: 1 (Reduce 10% of dmg if HP falls below 30%)

[IMG] Bastion: 2 (Reduce 20% dmg taken from towers)

NOTE: With last talents, you can try to destroy buildings without fearing taking lots of dmg from enemy towers.

    FIGHTER (21):

WT......!!!!!! Fighter talents on a mage? What a noob!!!!!. LOL

[IMG] Thump: 5 (Increases Crit. Rate 3%)

[IMG] Flurry: 5 (Increases Attack Speed 5%)

[IMG] Proficient: 5 (Increases Attack Speed 0.75% per lvl)

[IMG] Find Weakness: 3 (Increases Crit. Rate 0.7% per lvl)

[IMG] Fatal Damage: 1 (Increases Crit. Dmg 10%)

[IMG] Smash: 1 (Normal Attacks deal 2% more to structures)

NOTE: This talent is only used to unlock BITING which fits the DPS role for any hero class.

[IMG] Biting: 1 (Normal Attacks deal additional dmg of 1% of enemy's max HP)

    "Why these talents?"

Like mentioned above, Guervus only needs attack speed and HP, the more HP he has, the most Magical Attack he gets. So all guardian talents turns Guervus a bruiser instead of being another squishy mage: With guardian talents, Molten gets HP, defenses, Fast Healer (very useful for buffing Dull Vine Shield heal). Last Stand is great for helping you endure when you have very low HP.

Please note that even if Guervus' most of talents are dropped into Guardian Class, he is not lacking Magical Attack power, he is not weak because with this build Molten Lord's main source of power is his HP. Don't worry if you don't have magical talents at all; HP and endurance is needed for Molten and then you may ask: What about the dmg dealing? Well, Fighter talents will add: Critical Rate, Critical Power, Attack Speed and Bite talent; all of these features combined with its Magical Attack got from its massive HP makes Guervus a DPS (Damage Per Second) dealer, in other words Molten hurt enemies most of the times with his auto-attack (Notice that the damage dealt is not minor of poor, its damage is decent and enough to kill any kind of carry or bruiser (and also some tanks). The funny part is when crits are performed, there is no need of being a fighter for getting deal critical hits damage.

    Tablets:

    Desecration Tablet
Ascension Requirement: 8 Order, 8 Chaos
Ascension Effect: Each time you slay an enemy by yourself, your Max HP will be permanently increased by 5 points, to a Max HP of 360.

    Rage Tablet
Ascension Requirement: 5 Order, 11 Chaos
Ascension Effect: Each time you slay an enemy, you regenerate 3% of your Max HP (reduced effect for AoE victims).

    Elder Tablet
Ascension Requirement: 12 Order, 4 Chaos
Ascension Effect: Increases your Physical Defense by 12% of Magical Attack.

    "Why these tablets?"

-Desecration is an obvious choice, to max HP permanently after killing neutral creatures or minions.

-Rage Tablet is needed since it will be the only way to recover by our selves (this build has no leech feature), killing minions or creatures will make Guervus recover lost HP. This tablet is very useful on Guervus at the momento of fighting a hero in a lane, the opponent minions will come near your battle, then just use your LAVA SNAKE on the minions, so you will recover HP by killing at least 3 minions, so you can now continue your battle against the hero with more HP than before. Also notice that Rage tablet healing effect is also buffed by Fast Healer guardian talents.

-Elder tablet is a must for anny mage. As long as Guervus has huge HP, its Mag Attack will increase and so its Phy Def. Think about it, if 6% of max HP increases Mag Att so great, imagine what 12% of total Mag Att will ad to our Phy Def.

Plus Phy Def talents, and Hades (70). At full HP investment, Guervus reaches almost 200 Phy Def, we will face any fighter on our way. Fighting almost at their same level of DPS, no worries about Lizard's Silent Ult or anything else that silents Mages, our main source of damage is our normal attacks with above 120% of Attack Speed and now we can face physical attackers because we have a lot of defense already to counter them.

    Inscriptions:

    Order:

    Barbarism Inscription
    Increases Max HP by (B) 7 / (S) 10 / (G) 13

    Brutality Inscription
    Increases Critical Rate by (B) 0.35% / (S) 0.52% / (G) 0.69%

    "Why these inscriptions?"

    - HP inscriptions are obvious.

    - Critical Rate ones are needed to fit the DPS damage. You can notice that these work along with fighter talents; in train map for example, attack a high level train, you'll notice that the red damage (which pop up when a critical hit is triggered) appears so often as long as you attack it (also notice how train is slowed down often while you're attacking).

At lvl 15, Guervus has about 17.64% Critical Rate (Gold Crit. Inscriptions+Talents), which is nice, not as good as a Physical DPS but, it is enough to surprise enemies whose will think you, as mage need of the Magical Skills to have a good performance on the game. But, oh!, surprise! you only need your normal attacks to chase enemies or just be annnoying to heroes on a team fight. For example, I always chase the Goblin while a team fight is on the field, he will try to drop its ULT to slow down, but I can just annoy him making him slowing him down with my WW's passive and dealing crit hits on him, then he gets far from his team leaving it without heal recovering at the time I continue chasing him, so my team (if its good) can deal damage without risk of losing time against a "never die" team bacause of a healer in the middle of battle field.

Some Minor Tips for this build:

    A) Don't use 1v1 LAVA BURST to deal dmg, LAVA SNAKE could be used in 1v1 if minions are near enemy hero (even if there is no minions or creeps near, LAVA SNAKE deals good damage on a single Hero), LAVA BURST is only used to escape or trying to get close a low health enemy hero.

    B) During team fights you can use freely your LAVA SNAKE to deal huge dmg on the enemies while the snake bounces on them, then, if you know that your team is not noob, use your ultimate in the center of the crowd to help team finish them off, then, again, try to get out of the range of direct combat heroes and attack him back with your normal attacks.

    C) Use LAVA SNAKE and SPACE WRAP in combo to deal great damage on a single (or couple) hero(s). If you are in a team fight, don't waste your Ultimate on Tanky Built Heroes: SPACE WRAP does a lot of damage on Squishy Mages or Fighters, so most of the times on Team Fights, focus on the fighters (Aria) or mages (Vigelos) most annoying for your partners, just aim that mage/fighter and use LAVA SNAKE, then quickly, SPACE WRAP and just finish with a few normal attacks.

    D) If you are alone and there are 3 or more enemies coming to you, don't use your SPACE WRAP to deal damage on them (at least you REALLY know you can beat them all since you have a lot of HP and defenses), you will be dead, use your ultimate in combo with your "BLINK" skill for an easy escape.

    E) You can use LAVA BURST to deal damage only if an enemy turns invisible to escape (he/she has low HP): For example Gaia Guardian gets invisible on her plant crops, you know exactly where she is, so just use LAVA BURST on the crop to finish her off. The same occurs with chameleon, , you just follow the shadow and use LAVA BURST to continue dealing damage on it.

    F) Change your mind when playing using this build: Most of the mages can be easily killed when they have been silenced. This is not the case with Guervus build, so DON'T WORRY about getting silenced by Equellia, Arpy or Horse, just keep auto-attacking them and watch how their HP bar simply drops, they will try to run away, at that time the silence effect is gone and you can finish them off with your ULT or lava snake or simply heal yourself with Dull Vine Shield and continue fighting.

    G) Pop ULTIMATE right moments: Most of the noobs pop all his skills during a battle...Your ultimate can destroy a single or couple of enemies if using it at the right time, or it can also save your life from a secure dead by getting away from an enemy crowd, or also can help you to chase a low HP enemy. So use it wisely, don't pop it just at the moment you see an enemy hero around and most important: DON'T POP IT TO START A BATTLE (remember that ULT is an AOE skill so you want the Arrogance Cloak's effect on enemy be triggered first (this effect is not triggered by AOE skills but Single-Target's), so make sure you have slowed down an enemy with your Watcher Whisper by spamming single attacks or after the enemy has been hit by LAVA SNAKE).

    About Stats calculations:

HP statistics of Guervus at lvl15:

1744 (Guervus' total HP at lvl15)+40 (Strong talents)+(9*15) Resilient Talents+360 (Desecration Tablet)+78 (Gold HP inscriptions)+400 (Hades)+800 (Stirring Soul of the dragons)+200 (Dull vine Shield)=3757 of Total HP

Now, lets get the Mag Att at lvl15:

(3757 [Max HP] * 0.06 [FIRE LORD passive+Stirring Soul of the Dragon's passive])+99.4 (Guervus Mag Att at lvl15)+110 (Searing Orb)+60 (Arrogance Cloak)=494.82 of Total Mag Att

    Physical Defense at lvl15:
    (494.82 [Mag Att]*0.12 [Elder Tablet effect])+(15*0.7) Toughness Talents+47.2 (Guervus Phy Def at lvl15)+70 (Hades)=184.0784

    Magical Defense at lvl15:

47.42 (Mag Def of Guervus at lvl15)+(15*0.5) Talents+60 (Dull Vine Shield)=114.92

Critical Rate of Guervus at lvl15:
    3 (Thump Talents)+ (0.70*15)Find Weakness Talents+4.14 (inscriptions)=17.64%

NOTE: The critical rate could be 25.64% if "Amulet of the Second Chances" is equipped.

Attack Speed of Guervus at lvl15:
    0.85 (Natural Attack Speed of Guervus at lvl15)+(0.75*15) Proficient Talents+5 (Flurry Talents)+80 (Watcher's Whisper)+40 (Dull Vine Shield)=137.1%

IMPORTANT!!!!!!: HP, Magical Attack and Physical Defense stats could be raised in TRAIN MAP at the same time. If you have built all your items, save gold. Each time you have 3,000 buy an HP potion (yes, the red ones, each of them will raise your max HP for 400! permanetly). Buy those potions if you are alive, if you are dead (countdown) you can't buy them. Also, if you have about 1,000 gold, you can buy the potions that their effect is only for 4 minutes: "Mage Focus" (increases Mag Att) and "Vital Tonic" (increases HP), each of them costs 350 gold.

    BUGGED:

Guervus can't be taunted at all if he is using his LAVA BURST. If you are playing against "Bone Breaker" and he comes close to you, you can predict the obvious thig: He will taunt you and taking you to his crowd to finish you off. Well, pay attention and predict, once he is trying to get close, activate your LAVA BURST, then he taunts you and the TAUNT indication display appears on you, but you can move freely, Bone's ult was wasted. TROLLOLOL! But be careful since Bone's taunt is activated in 3 or 4 meters close the enemy, not sure, but its activation has long distance range of casting compared with 12b's. I've not tested this issue against a 12b but I think it should work.

    Nightmare enemies to this build:

From update 11, Guervus gains more Attack Speed and Magical Defense from Dull Vine Shield, so now, too few heroes are a real threat for him 1vs1. Most of the heroes bow down at Molten Lord.

-FOX: Only a threat if he pop his ULT on you, attack 1vs1 only if you know his ULT skill is Cooling Down.

-DRAEZNOR: This is a threat for any hero, even naturally tanks because it can just stun over and over again. Even if he deals few dmg to your tanky Guervus, he can kill you because of this. His third skill activated+Divinity Sword....Damn! Stunned forever. Anyways, if you notice that he activated his ult (he turns bigger) or his third skill (fire balls are displayed on his javelins) try to get out of his attack range and strike back when their skills are not active anymore. If this hero is annoying you and he is the only one in their team who can kill you drop Dull Vine Shield and buy Zealot's Horn.

-Evistix: Same problem threat as Draeznor. This guy is only dangerous if he pops his ult and if he has Divinity Sword. If this hero is annoying you and he is the only one in their team who can kill you drop Dull Vine Shield and buy Zealot's Horn.

That's it. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. This build is for fun, I know other DPS fill the role better than Guervus, but....anyways, I get fun with this playstyle.

Great guide but why not change the boots into lollipop? the 10% additional movement speed of it is almost equal to the boots plus it will give you more hp, magical attck and hp regen.

    Hi Mikhail.

I prefer the passive from ChainBoots. Im a user of bruisers/tanks and often opt for the 30% decrease of snare effects.

Sincerely I never use that item on tanky mages. But thinking about it, it could really work. I will add your suggestion to the guide.

    Thanks for comment.

Brilliant guide. Alternatively, I use Arrogance cloak (your damage becomes noticeably low when people tank up) instead of stirring souls but my build is pretty much identical.

    Inscriptions I use pierce mag.

Saithon you lose the passive and speed is less, but with your build, that's an additional 60+ magic damage, which is a lot when you build guervus like this.

I would add fish as a threat as well. I find fish able to chase and slow easily, and this build has no m def at all.

    Hello ThinIce.

It is good to know that others fell in almost the same conclusion about Guervus AttSp/MaxHP. And, about the usage of Arrogance Cloak, I tried to get a space on the itemization when I was testing different ways to build this Guervus' with its full potential in the usage of its HP and didn't work for me. IMO it's worth using cause of its Attack Speed boost only, I know enemies will put Mag Armor, but, its OK since this guide makes Guervus annoying more than a killer: Just stay in far from enemy's attack sight and you just attack with normal attacks, slowing him/her down (if that hero is a direct combat kind) he will try to touch you, you will not allow that, just stay far from his attack while you attack at the same time.

That's why I'm not fearing Fish, it is for sure that he slows down with its orbs, but in in a 1v1, a "Slow Down battle" starts, it slows down you each 2/3 seconds, you may slow him more than that. You deal more hits than him, so I had not trouble with it. (he becomes dangerous if its ULT pops). Or maybe I just face noob fishes, hahahaha (most of them use tany builds).

    Thanks for your comments.

Awesome guide! I love how you got the pictures and skill descriptions!

I play Guervus alot as I love how you can pester enemies, escape quickly, and deal lots of damage quickly. Albeit I hadn't thought about building him like this! I'll definetely go out and try this build! One suggestion I would make is instead of boots/Saithon Lollipop, I would get Puryfing Pendant. The Item offers nice CD reduction, nice HP and mana bonus and has a nice active that heals like, 650 at level 15, not to mention it removes debuffs and can be used on yourself or on allies. Although I understand how you like the passive on Chain Boots, it can be useful!

Welcome to the forums btw! :)

I'm usually facing fish when he has ulti on ready. The few times I've gotten far enough, the fish players were pro and were a headache to me.

Acidrix may become a potential threat in the future when/(if) he gets buffed/more popular. A skilled acidrix is known to plow through tanks with his ulti as it buffs skill with additional magic damage based on percentile of your max HP.

A technique you can use with the lava burst skill: it has a miniscule 5m range, but usually that's enough to damage people on your tail. What I do is if I have a bit lower hp than, say marithus, and he's chasing for the kill, I'll use lava burst when I'm running away.

The damage will stack up, and then I'll strike back and kill when I'm near creep and he's weakened.

Just see what happens if you have a jombraa in your team. All of guervus's skills benefit from jombraa's ultimate, and it feels so nice to see the entire army get wrecked.

Yeah, in fact all the mages are dangerous to this build, but the most important ones are mentioned in the guide (they kill guervus quick).

Of course that Guervus needs a good team...If the team is noob, he can't do well in battle field, this applies for all kind of builds for him. He can't shine by his own. He always will need a good team.

    Nice bud. : )

Did you play the full equipment of guide or did you really use P Pendant instead Boots/Lollipop?

    Thanks again.

Yeah, in fact I only tested it on Train Map. Guervus gets insane at 7000+ HP. It can easily destroy towers; and fighters don't do much dmg to him (if Guervus team is winning on kills of course) cause his phy defense (Elder Tablet) will be always increased as long as more HP is added often.

Even if I have not tested in other map, I think it is viable on the old 5v5 map (lots of creeps and minions available to increase HP via Desecration Tablet), at the end Guervus will have 4207 of HP, which I think will be enough for his Phy Def and Mag Att boosters.

    Thanks for comment.

since i play in a small screen device i subsist in misclicking i prefer bruisers so i wont die right away in cases of fail pinpointings obviously molten lord is my mage

i like ur guide because you put the computation so i can be more exact

usual threat for me doom is like usaid doom ur hp can be turned against u
fish for he has built in 40 mdef +possible talents and ofc 15secs ult

tabs i use those three but in some cases i pick( i play almost exclusively in the rift )
strategist: ur now a great tower defender( 0.5% hp and mana regen every secs + tower damage is buffed a bit) and it also amazing if u are yet to get teleport pair it with two squires energy, consider tower as mini base in early-mid game :D
courage: i just sit after they stun or silence me
bloodlust: When you slay an enemy by yourself, all other enemies wihin 5 meters of it will receive 8 times your level in Damage. since we invest in aspd our skill wont burst like the other mages in early-mid
so it helps alot in clearing slew of creeps it looks nice also it goes boom boom boom i am the fire lord, and imagine a hero in a pile of creeps it will deal a massive(multiple 8X ur lvl in the area) damage and since we prefer hero along with cronies

    Thanks. : )

LOL. It's the 1st time I hear someone who uses that tablet. I used to equip it when I just start playing HOC. : D

You meant "Battle Lust". XD. Its good tablet, I only used a few times on my build for King Reega and was fun at casting orbs. But then I dropped it since I had dropped "Desecration" to equip "Lust", and noticed that Desecration worked better form me than Lust.

    Thanks for commenting.

I used your build that you stated in the guide. I'll get around to trying it out with PP soon and let you know!

I use this build mostly in 5 vs 5 sinskaald (trains is dead, can't try anything there). In trains, if they do get ahead, they can buy magic defense and then you quickly lose your shine (especially if you're using Stirring Soul over Cloak). Sinskaald they can't stack too much magic defense, which is a good thing, since they're probably going to focus on buying hades.

Here's an alternative build I use.

    Spiderqueen
    Hades
    Searing
    Whisper
    Lollipop
    Rectitude

Attack speed is noticeably less, but still quite high with WW. The Spiderqueen slows attacks so it's good against bruisers like paladin, and the rectitude (mixed guardian mage talents) adds a nice leech.

The first build is more versatile and tanky though.
