In HOC, we’ve always wanted to ensure a rich metagame with unexpected developments. Above all, we don’t want super short sessions that leave players feeling empty. This means that matches require some time to build a strong early phase so players can capitalize on advantages and secure the rest of the match. But obviously, we’re on mobile and we know that you guys can’t stay for hours in front of your device. So we don’t want matches to last so long you feel like you’re just waiting for a foregone conclusion. So we have to walk a thin line between deep gameplay and fast match duration. After monitoring the games these last months, we’ve designed a few changes that should keep matches dynamic and exciting all the way through. You’ll notice that matches scale much quicker now as the waves of creeps get bigger and more dangerous sooner. This will encourage players to push sooner, and more aggressively. Creep spawn changes: 1. Creep spawn time has dropped to 25 seconds per wave (was 30 seconds per wave). 2. Bases will spawn an additional ranged creep per wave 7.5 minutes after game start (was 10 minutes). 3. Bases will spawn an additional melee creep per wave 10.4 minutes after game start (was 15 minutes). The creeps are also more dangerous from these changes: 1. Creep movement speed has increased to 4.2 from 3.5. 2. Ranged creep base damage increased to 45 from 35. 3. Creeps now level up every 3 minutes instead of every 5 minutes. 4. Base damage of melee creeps increases by 2.5 per level instead of 1.5. 5. Base damage of ranged creeps increases by 3 per level instead of 2.5. 6. Base damage of ballista increases by 3 per level instead of 2.5. In Coop and Solo mode, heroes have an additional buff which prevents 10 damage from creep attacks.
